Our Visions, Our Voices!

Our Visions, Our Voices!

The OCCC Journalism, Broadcast and Public Relations students work so hard every day to create stories, videos, podcasts and projects that showcase their visions and their voices.

This site is dedicated to those students who are developing their skills and deserve an outlet to showcase their work.  Please enjoy their work below.

Journalism is the “first rough draft of history.”

PR students promote wellness, explain strategy

PR students promote wellness, explain strategy

Public Relations majors in their first semester generally learn to storyboard and stop there.

Students Josh Collins, Tyra West, Linda Pope and Hunter Marshall were just one of the several Introduction to Public Relations class PR firms to take their storyboards live, and shoot a rough-cut video.  Their assignment was to storyboard about an important PR concept they had learned in the class in a way that would promote an area on campus and demonstrate their understanding of Chapter 2 in their PR textbook.

Their team,  Mad Men, has moved well beyond this assignment and is promoting OCCC’s Wellness Center through a full set of promotional strategies. They will be holding a campaign event  to encourage Wellness Center attendance Nov. 29, near the cafeteria.

Here is the first cut of their video (**none of them have taken video production, yet).

It’s a woman’s world: Pioneer releases ‘Women’s’ issue

The Pioneer student newspaper broke the mold yet again last week when they published a 16-page issue featuring many aspects of women’s lives.

From a heart-breaking letter-to-the-editor, to a series of impressive articles about the challenges of being a woman, the issue is a real page-turner.

Be sure to pick it up or go online to http://pioneer.occc.edu/the-female-experience-how-do-we-view-ourselves/

Broadcast majors’ video shines at women voting fest

Broadcast majors’ video shines at women voting fest

Broadcast majors Brandon Morfin, Marisa Howard and Alex Fischer created an amazing video package last month that won strong acclaim at the Oklahoma League of Women Voters’ 100th celebration of women being able to exercise the right to vote.

The students worked for over a month on the package.  League representatives said they were incredibly impressed telling the students they had “perfectly captured” the impressive work the League has done and the wonderful contributions trailblazing Oklahoma women have made to change lives for all Oklahomans.
